Recycle Week 2025: Shredall SDS Group’s Mission

Recycle Week 2025: Shredall SDS Group’s Mission

This week, from 22–28 September, the UK celebrates Recycle Week 2025, a national campaign led by WRAP’s Recycle Now initiative. This year’s theme, “Rescue Me! Recycle” encourages individuals and businesses to give overlooked recyclable items—like foil, aerosols and trigger sprays—a second chance.

Recycling Week 2025 is the UK’s annual recycling campaign.

At Shredall SDS Group, we’re proud to support this mission. As the largest independent leading provider of secure shredding, recycling and document management services, we help organisations across the UK reduce waste, protect data and contribute to a greener future.

Paper is one of the UK’s most successfully recycled materials — and it’s where our journey began almost 30 years ago. At Shredall SDS Group, we securely collect and can shred hundreds of tonnes of paper every day, ensuring it’s responsibly recycled into new products.

By combining data protection with our environmental commitment, we help businesses safeguard sensitive information while also reducing deforestation, conserving water,  energy and reducing carbon emissions. It’s a simple yet powerful way to integrate sustainability into everyday operations.

Recycling statistics

According to National Recycling, recycling one tonne of paper saves;

  •  17 Trees

  •  26,497 Litres of Water

  •  1438 Litres of Oil

  •  3.0m³ of Landfill Space

Expanding our recycling impact

While paper recycling remains at the heart of what we do, our commitment to sustainability goes far beyond. At Shredall SDS Group, we offer secure recycling solutions across a growing range of waste streams—helping businesses manage materials more responsibly and reduce their environmental footprint.

From  recycling hard drives to paper cups and cardboard, we’re continually evolving to meet the needs of modern organisations looking to improve their green credentials without compromising on security.

Why recycling is important

With over 2.3 billion recyclable items still ending up in general waste each year, the environmental impact is significant. Businesses play a key role in  changing this trend.

Under the new Simpler Recycling regulations, companies are now legally required to separate recyclable materials—including paper, food waste, glass, and plastics.

Shredall SDS Group makes this easy. We offer secure, compliant recycling solutions that not only protect sensitive information, but ensure that 100% of shredded paper is recycled into new products like tissue and office paper, as part of our environmental commitment.

Our Environmental Commitment

At Shredall SDS Group, sustainability isn’t just a goal—it’s part of our DNA. We don’t just recycle; we lead by example, continually investing in greener practices across every part of our business:

  •  100% renewable electricity powers our operations

  •  We’ve offset 1,240 tonnes of CO₂ through verified global wind and hydropower projects

  •  LED lighting has been installed across all our facilities to reduce energy consumption

  •  We’ve launched innovative recycling schemes for paper cups, textiles, and hard drives

  •  We actively support tree planting initiatives to restore natural habitats and absorb carbon emissions

  •  We’re investing in low-emission vehicles and route optimisation to reduce our transport footprint

  •  We use recyclable packaging and encourage clients to adopt sustainable materials in their own operations

We hold multiple ISO accreditations certifications, including ISO 14001 for environmental management, and we’re proud to have achieved PAS 2060 verification for carbon neutrality.

Every step we take is designed to help our clients reduce waste, protect sensitive data, and contribute to a healthier planet. Whether it’s through secure shredding, responsible recycling, or carbon-conscious logistics, Shredall SDS Group is proud to be part of the solution.

Helping businesses stay green and secure

Recycling doesn’t have to compromise data security, our services ensure confidential documents are securely destroyed and responsibly recycled. We also help businesses audit their waste streams, set up regular collections, and educate staff on best practices—turning recycling into a workplace habit.
