At Shredall SDS Group, we know that the scope of our responsibility entails more than delivering services to paying customers. We consider ourselves an integral part of our community and welcome opportunities to participate in and support charitable initiatives.
Emmanuel House is one of the charities close to our hearts. In January and February 2025, Shredall SDS Group representatives volunteered to help each Monday morning at Emmanuel House.
About Emmanuel House
Emmanuel House is an independent charity based in Nottingham. This non-profit supports those who are homeless, rough sleeping, on the brink of losing their home, or going through a crisis.
Established in 1976, Emmanuel House provides an open-access haven to address basic human needs. Its inclusive and compassionate services are a lifeline for those who are isolated, vulnerable and homeless. These services range from temporary interventions to prolonged support in a safe environment.
Its multi-tiered services include showers, clothing and food. The city-centre facility also promotes a culture of togetherness and belonging, which includes mental health and wellbeing support. Emmanuel House restores a sense of dignity through activities such as singing, guitar lessons, cooking and gardening.
The Emmanuel House approach reflects its founding values of kindness, compassion and putting people first. The charity aims to make a lasting impact on the lives of those it helps. Through prevention, intervention and recovery, Emmanuel House strives to equip people with more than just immediate help. It also provides the mental and emotional support needed to effect meaningful change towards independence and safety.
What the day will look like
Shredall SDS Group will take on various roles while volunteering at Emmanuel House. Our core responsibilities will be in the kitchen and our volunteers will serve breakfast and hot drinks to people in need.
The day starts with us serving breakfast and includes foods such as toast and cereal. After breakfast, we will serve hot drinks and have a friendly chat before cleaning the kitchen and neatly storing all the crockery and cutlery so that they are ready for the next meal.
Our commitment to supporting the local community
At Shredall SDS Group, our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a core part of our vision, mission and values. We continuously strive to participate in community projects that make a tangible difference in the lives of people and the health of the planet.
As a Christmas Tree Recycling Partner, we actively participated in the drive to recycle Christmas trees. All donations went to the Nottingham Hospitals Charity.
We are also proud to be part of Plant for the Planet – a global tree-planting initiative to counter carbon emissions and deforestation. Every time a customer secures a new Shredall SDS Group service, we plant a tree in that customer’s name.
Together, we can indeed make a difference.
