We are supporting the Gedling Memory Café, a monthly social event for those with dementia and their carers. It takes place every fourth Friday of the month at The Good Shepherd Church Hall, Thackery’s Lane, Nottingham from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
We have pledged our support by covering the rental cost of the hall for this year. In autumn, members of the Shredall SDS Group team will also be helping out at the café as volunteers.

About the Gedling Memory Café
The Gedling Memory Café is a friendly and welcoming place for anyone with dementia and their carers to gain practical information, emotional support or just enjoy a fun, sociable time together. Run by The Mapperley and Arnold Rotary Club with further support from local volunteers, this initiative is free of charge, and parking and refreshments are available.
It provides an invaluable meeting place for the local community. Those who have been affected by Alzheimer's know that it can be an isolating experience for everyone involved, but the Memory Café offers a place for people to come together, talk with others in a similar position and make contacts.
Each month there are a variety of activities on offer alongside refreshments free of charge. There are opportunities to sing, dance, listen to music groups, plant bulbs, play games like parachute activities or just talk. The Gedling Memory Café in particular is always a hive of activity with many people attending.

How to get involved
The event takes place every fourth Friday of the month at The Good Shepherd Church Hall, Thackery’s Lane, Nottingham from 10:30am to 12:30pm. You don’t need to register your interest to attend – if you feel that you or someone you care for would benefit, you can simply turn up on the day.

Shredall SDS Group’s support
We recognise the value of the Gedling Memory Café for the local community. As a result, Shredall SDS Group has agreed to work with the rotary club by covering the rental cost of the hall for the first year (an amount totalling just under £1,000). Members of our team will also be volunteering to help out with running the café this autumn.
